Noticing cracks and holes in your asphalt driveway elicits one of two thoughts in a person’s mind.
“I’m gonna have to patch that.”
“I’m gonna have to replace that.”
And while both of these are options, how does one choose which to do? Here at Von Paving, we understand asphalt and can help you make that decision.
One of the major things to consider when making this decision is the lifespan of an asphalt driveway. A well laid and well taken care of asphalt driveway should last 20 years. After that time, any patches can be considered short-term repair. Damage will happen more frequently, causing you to spend more money. The unwritten rule should be “replace for long-term”, and “resurface for short term”. If the structural integrity of your driveway is in good condition, you may not have to replace, and patching becomes a better option.
