Microsurfacing streets and roads is an alternative to patching and repaving. Streets that have slight to moderate distress, slight rutting, and generally narrow crack widths are best served with this type of rehabilitation. Microsurfacing medium to high traffic roads is an alternative to traditional methods of restoration, and can extend the life of asphalt by up to 8 years!
Microsurfacing is a protective coat over the base asphalt, sealing minor cracks and other irregularities, protecting the street from moisture penetration and oxidation. It’s a thin, tough layer of an asphalt emulsion, blended with fine crushed stone, which not only resurfaces the asphalt but also provides traction that may have been lost due to wear.
Similar to painting a house, microsurfacing provides a new protective layer on asphalt, meaning that the road or street will be protected, at a fraction of the cost of patching or replacing.
