We’ve all seen paving work being done, whether in traffic waiting for the flag person to let us through, or in parking lots and driveways in our towns and neighborhoods. There are a lot of different pieces of equipment that go into making sure these jobs are done safely and efficiently. In this ongoing series, we’ll be talking to you about the different types of equipment that we use here at Von Paving. This month; Compactors and Rollers.
Before you can even consider laying asphalt anywhere, you need to have a solid foundation. This is where compactors come into play. When you see a street being paved or repaved, you’ll see these machines at work, repeatedly “punching” the ground to compact it and set up the ideal groundwork for a good layer of asphalt.
After the asphalt is laid, it needs to be evened out and compacted. This ensures that any imperfections that may have occurred during the laying process will be removed, giving a long-lasting finish to the asphalt.
Do you have questions about our equipment? Or are you ready to see it at work on your driveway or parking lot? We’d love to hear from you!
